Review of Ipevo Ziggi Document Camera. For $89 it can't be beat for use in making online instructional videos or in the classroom as a presentation tool.

What kind of mic are you using? There is no reason you should not be able to record video and audio together.

I made a quick video of what could be the issue: http://screencast.com/t/3qbnOMXN

Hope this helps!

PC. No mic on the Ladybug. My work-around has been to record w/ the Ladybug and drop it into Camtasia for editing. The problem there is that the audio and video are on same track, and unfortunately, the audio runs faster than the video. I work w/ this by recording in segments and putting everything together in Camtasia. It would be perfect if I could just record initially into Camtasia, but as it is, I can either get audio or video there, but not both at the same time. So far, I've done two videos, and each time is easier and faster! I really do like the Camtasia software!!

It sounds like a tech audio issue. Are you PC or Mac? Does the Ladybug have a built in mic? How is the picture with the Ladybug camera?

By the way, I have a Lumens Ladybug doc camera from my school, in case it makes a difference.

So, you have your doc camera open a window on the screen and then "fit" the Camtasia screen over it and record? When I do this, my audio won't work. I can get either the video or the audio, but not both! I'm now my 2nd day trying to make this work. the best luck I've had is to record only w/ my document camera and then drop in on a track in Camtasia. The problem here is that the video is slower than the audio, especially by the end of a 7 min video. I'm on the trial of Camtasia and like it, but I just can't seem to make it work like it's supposed to. Any ideas?

Leslie,

I just posted a video on my screencast studio to give an idea of how I use the doc cam to record.

I just received a newer model of a document camera from my school. I've downloaded the software and hope to be recording soon! Thank you for taking the time! I bought and read your book, and I'm very excited about flipping my geometry classes (as are my asst principals!).

I used Camtasia. The document camera opens a window on my computer that shows what the document camera is showing. I then just set the Camtasia record area rectangle over the viewable area of the document camera and hit record.

Hope this helps.

How did you record this? I already have a document camera but don't know how to record up close like you did in this video.
