Dave Hicks replied to Elizabeth Christophy's discussion Tests worth different points? in the group Chemistry
"I have tried out setting up standards (or learning objectives) for students to achieve where the objectives were not all the same level.  For example with solutions: one objective may be for the student to calculate moles of solute when given…"

"We take it like a normal test. They have one period to complete it...have not been issues with time. If we test on a block day I will give them the typical test and then they will take the BCR after if we have enough time."

"Have not had any issues yet. By the time they write the BCR they really should know the info. And only one other person should see their grade."

"What a great assignment. I too, cannot have students grade other students' work, but I still love the idea of the assignment. 1. Do all students complete the BCR at the same time (a class testing atmosphere) or do you run an asynchronous…"

"LOVE the idea peer grading of the short answers as a way of reviewing the material. Our school has a policy that allows students to retake a test 1 time to improve their score, but I often find that students don't do much better on the retake…"

"I like this idea also, but like the idea of having one test with 85% standard questions and the rest higher level questions. I would suggest that if you are using multiple choice questions that you make 6-8 answer choices for the more difficult…"
