I have worked with all age groups of students, including adults in a sheltered workshop setting, and my experience with public schools is that special education classrooms often are composed of students with a variety of challenges. Right now, I'm working with many students who have learning disabilities and they come to my room for math and literacy instruction. I also have students with severe disabilities that require much hands on assistance with activities of daily living such as eating, mobility and hygiene. There are students who have some challenging behaviors and emotional disabilities, too. Bottom line is they are all very visual and relate well to things that are demonstrated simply with strong visual images. I suspect that the visual aspect of the flipped classroom is especially useful to you if you have students learning English at school but not necessarily speaking English at home.
