You might want to try something I found useful which was station days. I did this in my middle school math classroom where I broke the class up into three groups. One group would be at the screencasting station where they would watch videos, another would be on an independent activity and the third in a small group with me. In a class of 30, I could have partners work on five devices (computers, iPod Touch Devices, whatever). You could even make the screencasts differentiated so they are at each group's level.

This is very similar to centers in elementary school. I really enjoy the time I spend with the small groups and students like moving around the classroom.

Comment by Crystal Mart on March 3, 2013 at 12:30pm: I tried screencastomatic last summer and it's free. It allows you to imbed a smaller screen with your pic. There's a bit of a learning curve, but it might work for you!
