Hello everyone, I recently exported my question banks. They contain old AP MC questions organized by Jeff Bigler, ChemEd questions, Flipped Classroom (Bergeman and Sams) and questions imported and created by me. Here is the link to the dropbox folder - https://www.dropbox.com/sh/cbzjyzd0qsz65hh/G2XLcaAbgA

I would suggest you upload them to a new Moodle course just to see if you like the organization of the banks.  I organized them to match Adrian Dingle's topics. All the files are MoodleXML files. Let me know if you need help. Just to let you know, ChemEd questions are AP level and Flipped are Gen Chem level. It is a mix of both since they are useful for AP level. Not sure if anyone is interested in question banks but here are mine.

Going to teach ap chem this year, flipped honors chem with moderate success (students that bout in did well...no surprise), but I am on a block - will only have spring semester for ap. Should I be contemplating a complete flip on this schedule? There's a lot of material, not to mention the labs; flexibility seems out the window. Advice would be so appreciated.

Rachel - all of my videos (for better or worse!) are on YouTube and vimeo.  I have notes guides that follow these notes on my website at allenisd.org (go to allen high school, faculty, then Dena)  These might give you some direction as well.  My syllabus is there too.  And then we will change it all the next year!!

Rachel, all the ones I made for  my class this past year are here: http://flippedap.wikispaces.com/ The menu on the left is the broad list of topics, and each topic was broken down into 3 or 4 (usually) more videos that you can see on each page. I also have a syllbus I used that lists class time for each unit if you want to see that. 15 minutes seems like a reasonable length. I tried not to make them longer than that myself.

I am at FlipCon12 right now.  Does anyone have a list of topics/videos for AP Chem?  I am thinking about what topics will require their own video and it would be nice to see how other AP Chem teachers are chunking their material.  My goal is to make 15 minute videos, on average.  Does that seem appropriate?  Thanks!

I was "gifted" an AP class in mid-February. The teacher had been using AP Chem Solutions for her instruction with little labs...there were so many gaps it was impossible to cover it all in class...so I found the NMSI podcasts and had them use it for Electrochemistry review. I agree with Dena, the ones who are going to copy notes will anyway...the ones who valued the learning definitely benefitted. I will keep AP Chem and have AP bio and Physics in the fall...with essentially three new, high level preps I will not have time to flip everything myself. I have seen a lot about Bergman, but have any of you used the NMSI resources for flipping?

At Armand Amoranto:  I would like to be part of the Moodle group.  I have been working on building a question bank, but it is very slow going.  I hope to really focus on this over the summer.  I teach IB HL chem, so there are some differences, but not large ones.  In particular, I am trying to figure out how to build some longer, multiple area questions, rather than single topic questions.  Keep me up to date, and I will try to find a way to share what I have put together with you.

I have Bergman's Gen Chem bank.  Does he have an AP bank?  I also have Jeff Bigler's banks in which he put in old AP MC questions.  I also have the ChemEd's question banks.  They have a lot of questions more focused on skills and calculations.  I used it extensively this year for my Gen Chem and AP Chem.  Most were used in the AP Chem level because of the difficulty.

Armand, I would absolutely be interested in this. A while back Jon Bergman offered his moodle testbank. You might look into that. Could save some work.

Anyone use Moodle as a main formative and summative assessment for their flipped classroom?  Has anyone organized a group to work and share question banks for AP Chemistry?  I am working with a local university (CSU San Marcos) to host a group of Moodle users to share question banks and curriculum for AP Chemistry.  If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll keep the group posted on the progress.  I would do it with my district's server, but I was told not to.
